When we re-finalized Reagan's adoption last month, I really thought we were done with adoption paperwork. I was wrong. It seems as if the process is never-ending! I found out yesterday that it will take another 10 months to get a California-issued birth certificate! We also still need to change Reagan's name on her social security number, which has to wait until we receive our tax returns are processed. Then we have to apply for another certificate of citizenship in her american name, to the tune of another $420! Fortunately I have this precious little face to motivate me...
but does it really have to be so hard? It's no wonder so many are intimidated by adoption!

Yes, it is a precious face, and she really looks like she grew over the winter.
Good luck getting everything done.

She's more than worth every minute and every penny--but we're glad you're doing all the work, and we're reaping the benefits!!!

I hear ya girl! They are worth it though...only those little faces could motivate us!
I totally agree. We've had Rocco a year and we just re-finalized in the US courts so that his name could be changed. We haven't got his SSN yet and we are about to have to fork over another $400 for an N565. When will it end? Thankfully, as you said, our beautiful blessings from Ninh Tuan are worth every bit ot it!

Wow, 10 months??? That's a long time to wait. We haven't applied for Sera's C of C in her new name yet. We will eventually, but we also need to get one for Ava (she came home before they were automatically issued and so has never had one) so I'm really holding out until the last minute to fork over $900 to the US gov't! The only thing we have left for Sera is to get her US passport. Not too difficult, but I just can't seem to find the motivation to actually go to the post office and apply for it.
I honestly don't think agencies inform parents enough about the post-adoption paperwork. It can be just as confusing as the pre-adoption paperwork. And it gets so frustrating because after traveling you want nothing more than to just be DONE and settled as a family. But yes, it's all worth it when you see that adorable little face. :)
How PRECIOUS!!
