My new toy

So I finally jumped on the SLR bandwagon and am loving it! I was just missing too many shots of my babies in action, thanks to a super-slow point-n-shoot. Now I'm busy trying to figure out how to take full advantage of all this camera's features. For those of you who are photography veterans out there, what are some good resources for beginners, online or otherwise? I'd love to learn more about Photoshop too. For now, I'm having fun experimenting, and driving Alyssa, Parker and Reagan crazy with my demands for subjects.

Have fun!! The best advice is to take LOTS of pictures!! You are much more likely to get some good shots if you take lots of them!! Oh and the kids will get used to it! Conner and Brooklyn sure have! Tracy Dodson has some great advice and your sister in law is amazing as I am sure you know!

Did you also get free tobacco with yours? How fun!

What kind of camera is this? We're looking for a new one and are trying to get some input from others!

It's a Canon Digital SLR XTi. I am a real beginner and am not having much trouble at all figuring it out. My only complaint thus far is the size, but I knew from the beginning that it wouldn't be as handy as the point-n-shoot I keep in my purse. We got it on e-bay for what I thought was a great deal, and it looks like it's barely been touched.

My husband likes Ken Rockwell's site (Rockwall?). Me, I'm not allowed to take pictures. I'm terrible and I'm not just saying that.

You won't go back. I recommend this book: http://www.amazon.com/David-Buschs-Canon-Digital-Photography/dp/1598635786/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1244247928&sr=8-4

I bought it after having my camera for years and learned more in a night of searching out answers to all my questions than I had in several other pursuits. I like the ease of the read, it is like a user manual but with practical applications and more indepth explanations of how settings can apply to real life situations.

Good luck! Have fun! I also like www.twopeasinabucket.com go to their photography forum and click on articles. There's a 10 week class (might be twelve...I don't remember) anyway, you can read those things for lots of good tips and some assignments and stuff.
