Too few words

Most of my life I’ve longed to be more outgoing. I wouldn’t necessarily call myself an introvert (at least by this definition!), but I never seem to have a lot to say. I’m not afraid to share my opinions or talk about myself, but what might take my husband 15 minutes of colorful storytelling I could probably convey in 15 boring seconds. Fine and good if you’re in a hurry or value conciseness, but not great for prolonged conversation… or maintaining a blog. I marvel at those who can write pages and pages on a daily basis, convey in great detail the life of their family, articulately expound upon the latest issues in the adoption community, or challenge me with some spiritual insight. I am a girl of brevity (which is why I often resort to pictures!). I’m drawn to those who can manage so much more. My husband is my extroverted opposite, my friends are generally quite verbose, and even the blogs I visit most frequently are maintained by men and women God has blessed with far more words than I. Though there are corresponding benefits to my personality, and God is faithful to convict me of the related sins I am prone to (read: self-centeredness), I sometimes find myself falling short – even here on this blog - of what I wish I could be.

First let me say, I just love your blog. I think you do a great job at sharing your thoughts and your beautiful family. I wish I had more time to devote to things like adoption related issues, but I just can't seem to find the time to fully educate myself on all the (constantly changing) aspects. Lately, I have just decided to write mostly about things I do know and am passionate about. It's easier that way. It's hard trying to be entertaining sometimes.

Hey Laura, I think you do a wonderful job with your blog, I just LOVE reading it and following your family. I think you are so eloquent in the way you write and I thorougly enjoy reading what you have to say. I LOVE the pictures of your beautiful kids and the way you write so lovingly about each one. It is an ecouragement to me and I appreciate the time you take to do it. Thanks!

I think we'd go crazy if there were 2 of you in the fam ( love you Dan) the funny thing is, we all should be more like you! There is wisdom in your words, most of mine are just what I'm thinking at the moment, entirely not thought through! Anyway, So glad that you're my sister and even more glad that you're the bestest friend a girl could have!

I love the way you are! I'd say were were definitely an odd couple in the realm of CHS, but didn't we have fun!? I remember you taking me by surprise a little bit because you were quieter, but never awkward, and then when we went to Chelan, we had lots to talk about...or did I talk the whole time? :) It's a good thing there are people like you who can temper those like me!
